About the artist
ROL, or Ray of Light, has been homeless for over five years. Having grown up in Croydon, South London, Ray has seen house prices and rent in and around the city sky rocket and the sense of community diminish.
Having spent some time working in Hong Kong, Ray found that when he returned to London, no matter how hard he worked, the worsening quality of accommodation he could afford and the price he paid for it just didn’t seem worth it.
Although still homeless Ray, is an active member of the arts community. His work on gentrification has been published by the Serpentine Gallery backed, Edgware Road project. He is a three time winner of the Café Art MyLondon photography competition and continues to volunteer for the Café Art community.
About the C4WS
Ray has chosen to support C4WS, a north London charity that continue to support him and hundreds of homeless people every year across a number of projects. They have been helping homeless people rebuild their lives since 2005 and offer essential support in a variety of ways such as their winter shelter and employment programs.
