David Speed - Limited Edition Art Wrapping Paper - Pack of 5 - Apple

Inject some cool into your gifts this year by wrapping it up in our Limited Edition Art Wrapping Paper.

This Christmas, take your gift presentation to the next level and wrap your gifts up in David Speed’s arresting “Apple” design. Take your pick of a singular image of the fruit, or multiple juicy apples if you’re feeling fruity.

David Speed is a multi-disciplinary artist whose current focus is neon painting. The artist is fascinated by light and shadow and creates work that plays with that drama. David enjoys painting huge murals but is equally happy painting canvas.

Referencing this design, he says:

"Throughout the history of art, artists have depicted apples. But they’re forgotten by modern creators, In folklore [apples] signified death and love, in Celtic traditions apples grew in the underworld and were food for the dead. In Norse mythology apples grant eternal youth,”

“These days, however I feel that the humble apple is taken for granted. I like working with objects that are easily forgotten or disposable and attempting to make them something more beautiful.”

Each piece measures 70cm x 50cm.

Signed sheets bearing the singular image of this design are also available.

All the profit from this wrapping paper goes directly back to The Big Issue to give people living on the margins a hand up.

The Big Issue

The Big Issue's own-brand products support the creation of a range of work-based opportunities for disadvantaged people.
Big Issue has spent over 30 years at the helm of self-help revolution. It all began with the launch of The Big Issue magazine in 1991, which was created to offer homeless and disadvantaged people the opportunity to earn a legitimate income by selling a magazine on the streets. Since then over 200 million copies magazine have been sold by over 100,000 people. Vendors buy the magazine upfront for £1.75 and sell it on to the public for £4.00, and in doing so each runs their own micro-enterprise. In 2005 Big Issue Invest was launched, with the aim of extending The Big Issue's mission by financing the growth of social enterprises and charities across the UK. To date the organisation has directly invested in over 350 such organisations, and manages or advises on more than £170 million of social funds.
